I am pleased to announce that the NAKMAS Equality Policy has now been reviewed and rewritten to reflect current legislation and criteria laid down by the Equality Standard, and by the requirements of NAKMAS; for its members, employees, officers, officials and volunteers.
The new Policy can now be found on the website and supersedes the previous Equality and Equal Opportunities Policies. The new Policy can also be found within the Welfare Policy and Codes of Practice document. The website will direct you to any legislation which is relevant.

COMMITMENT TO THE EQUALITY STANDARD
In March 2006, NAKMAS committed to achieving the Equality Standard for Sport. Sport politics have hindered this commitment. However, thanks to the tireless intervention of the Central Council for Physical Recreation (CCPR), the issue has now been resolved. Unfortunately the guidelines have been updated and assessment methods changed. Therefore much of the initial work has to be redone to ensure currency for assessment.
NAKMAS would like to announce its renewed Commitment to achieving the Standard. Sandra J Beale MAEd PGCertAS CertEd remains the lead officer, accountable for equality within NAKMAS, along with an internal Equality Team. The Management Committee are also committed to ensure that equality/equity is paramount during discussion or consideration of any issues.
The Equality Policy is now under review and any developments will be communicated in due course. The reviewed and amended Policy will appear on the website, and sent out to all direct members once it has been approved and rewritten.
Members will be informed of developments through this website, and through internal Reviews and News Briefs. Thank you for your co-operation.
